Biréli Lagrène is a French jazz guitarist who rose to fame in the 1980s with a style heavily influenced by Django Reinhardt, the master of manouche jazz. He frequently performs in swing, jazz fusion, and post-bop styles. Coming from a Romani family, Lagrène picked up the guitar at the age of four or five, and by seven, he was already improvising jazz solos.
