The 2024 winner, daoud returned to close the competition on the main stage in 2025. Often called the enfant terrible of French jazz, he’s widely seen as a standard-bearer for the new French scene. Influences from hip-hop, Italo house, and modern jazz fuse into a rich, personality-driven groove. The Franco-Moroccan trumpeter fuels his compositions with a dose of absurdism and a touch of mischief — always finding fresh ways to ruffle the purists.
