JazzyBIT – The First Residency at Jazz in the Park

In 2025, Jazz in the Park and JazzyBIT both celebrate their 13th anniversaries. We were born around the same time, as jazz promoters, and we’ve grown together, supporting each other every step of the way. We’ve put on dozens of concerts together and have always aimed to outdo ourselves. That’s how the idea of a musical residency came to life: three unique shows marking a new chapter in our shared story.

JazzyBIT is one of the most beloved contemporary jazz bands in Romania. Formed by Teodor Pop (piano), Mihai Moldoveanu (bass), and Szabó Csongor-Zsolt (drums), the trio blends jazz with funk, Latin, and rock influences, delivering an energetic, modern groove. They’ve been longtime friends of the festival, having performed on all of Jazz in the Park’s stages—from the smallest corners to the main stage. They’ve been part of every important edition, and over the years, the relationship between the band and the festival has grown into an artistic partnership rooted in mutual respect and deep friendship.

Three special concerts are in the works:

Saturday: JazzyBIT x DJ K-Lu
A live show that blends JazzyBIT’s groove with DJ K-Lu’s signature beats—cinematic sound collages infused with rhythm and dance. It’s the kind of collaboration born out of friendship and shared creative energy.

Sunday: JazzyBIT & Omar Sosa
The most anticipated moment of the residency. Omar Sosa, the acclaimed Cuban pianist with six Grammy nominations, shares a deep artistic friendship with the band, going back nearly a decade. Together, they’ve built a special project featuring five of Sosa’s compositions and four JazzyBIT originals. The stage will host six musicians: alongside the JazzyBIT trio, Ernesttico (percussion), Joo Kraus (trumpet), and Omar Sosa (piano) will bring this collaboration to life.

Surprise Jam Session
On one of the festival days, we’re planning a spontaneous performance on the new festival stage. Guest musicians will be invited to join JazzyBIT for a moment of pure improvisation—one of those unforgettable experiences you’ll be telling stories about.

A story 13 years in the making

This collaboration is no coincidence. Teodor Pop first discovered Omar Sosa many years ago through a YouTube video. Ten years ago, they met live for the first time in Alba Iulia and even had a soundcheck together. Since then, they’ve kept in touch, and that connection has blossomed into a beautiful friendship. What began with a few emails has evolved into shared plans, rehearsals, and now—sharing the same stage at Jazz in the Park.

JazzyBIT – The Residency is a project about friendship, growth, and the courage to do things differently.

Come and experience it live!
