The 12th Edition of Jazz in the Park: A Musical Revelation!

The 12th edition of Jazz in the Park, held from August 30th to September 1st in the “Romulus Vuia” Ethnographic Park in Cluj-Napoca, was a true musical revelation. With a captivating mix of sounds and styles, this edition was unforgettable, bringing a diverse lineup of world-renowned artists to the audience. The three exceptional headliners — Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, Cymande, and Avishai Cohen Trio — transformed each evening into a unique experience, full of energy and emotion.

Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox electrified the crowd with their unique renditions of modern hits in a 1950s style. Cymande, the legendary British band, lit up the night with their messages of peace and harmony. Their funk and soul influences, which defined the music of the 1970s, resonated deeply with all the fans in attendance. Avishai Cohen Trio provided the perfect festival finale with a deeply moving musical performance.

In addition to the headliners, the festival hosted an array of outstanding artists, including Manu Katché, Senegal’s Orchestra Baobab, Tigran Hamasyan Trio, and Isfar Sarabski Quartet from Azerbaijan, creating lasting memories for the audience. The atmosphere was further elevated by Jazzanova Live, Kinga Glyk, Norzeatic and Quinta Spartă, Jazzbois, Oreglo, Trigon, KRiSPER, Amphitrio, NAUSYQA, and Wasted Generation, along with vibrant sets by renowned DJs such as DJ Hefe, Andi Moisescu, and Moss Farai, giving each evening its own unique energy.

Jazz in the Park 2024 was, without a doubt, the best edition yet—a true musical feast that transformed the Ethnographic Park in Cluj into a world of sounds and experiences for three days. Beyond the concerts, the park’s traditional households were brought to life with a variety of interactive activities, such as percussion workshops, music lessons for all ages, culinary experiences, and wine tastings. The beloved “Porch Gatherings” returned with a new edition, featuring relaxed, inspirational discussions with renowned artists and music industry professionals. Fans had the opportunity to hear stories from Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, Cymande, and Tigran Hamasyan. The festival was also enriched by a vinyl fair, hot air balloon rides, and many other activities that turned the Ethnographic Park into a vibrant, energetic space that left the audience culturally and spiritually enriched.

Alin Vaida, founder of Jazz in the Park, said: “We are extremely happy with how this edition turned out. It felt like the festival has matured and become more refined. I feel like we’ve managed to raise the bar compared to previous years. Of course, the positive energy and the relaxed vibe remained, but everything was much more polished. We were able to forge an even deeper connection with our audience. There are still things to improve for the future, but the good news is that we know exactly what to work on. I can’t wait for next year’s edition. We promise something special, and I think we’ve already proven that by announcing Ibrahim Maalouf. See you next year!”

At this year’s Jazz in the Park, attendees had the chance to secure their passes for the 13th edition of the festival at the best price. This was the last edition to be held in the fall, as next year the festival will shift in the events calendar to early summer. The 13th edition of Jazz in the Park will take place from June 6-8, 2025, in the “Romulus Vuia” Ethnographic Park in Cluj-Napoca, and it promises to be even more spectacular.

The first headliner has already been confirmed: the renowned trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf! With 18 albums under his belt, Ibrahim Maalouf has made an impressive journey from winning major classical trumpet competitions to becoming the most popular jazzman on the French music scene, and he was the first jazz artist in history to fill the Accor Arena in Paris. Discovered by the legendary Quincy Jones and described as a “virtuoso” by The New York Times, Ibrahim has collaborated with renowned artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Angelique Kidjo, Melody Gardot, and Marcus Miller, and was featured on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2021 as a true jazz legend.
