MAGRO

Berlin-based drummer and producer MAGRO creates an unusual fusion between acoustic jazz and Hip-Hop/RnB. His project amalgamates various musical influences such as Herbie Hancock, J Dilla, and Chris Dave. After his debut album “Trippin,” released in 2021, won the “German Jazz Prize” for “Debut Album of the Year,” Magro released his follow-up album titled “II” (pronounced: Two).

This album features, among others, rising RnB singer Leona Berlin and New York-based pianist BIGYUKI. Over the years, Magro has collaborated with numerous artists as a drummer and producer, including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Wayne Snow, Kenny Wesley, and the Rolling Stones Project. He has also produced many of Leona Berlin’s albums and singles, including “Wrong Lane (feat. Snoop Dogg).”

His tours and appearances at international festivals such as Jazzahead, Tremplin Jazz Avignon, and WIM Festival Zambia have taken him around the world. This year, new single releases with the Berlin label “Sonar Kollektiv” have been announced.
