Manu Katché

Manu Katché is one of the classics, one might say. At 65 years old, he has performed with Peter Gabriel, Sting, and Jan Garbarek. He is a drummer from France who has amassed a complex experience across various musical genres, which precisely makes him special. He blends jazz, rock, and elements of world music.

He began his musical career at the age of 7 with the classical piano, but his passion for rhythm guided him towards the drums. Twenty years later, he contributed to two globally acclaimed albums, “So” and “Secret World Live.” He then left his mark on albums by Sting, “…Nothing Like the Sun” and “The Soul Cages.”

It wasn’t long before he joined ECM Records. And the albums “Neighbourhood” and “Third Round” are clear evidence of his dexterity in mixing jazz with elements of world music. This has aided him in creating his own style.

Fun fact: He was part of the jury for “Nouvelle Star,” the French version of American Idol.
