A vibrant jazz trio of teenagers from Kyiv, ShekBand masterfully blends contemporary jazz with Ukrainian folk influences and youthful energy. Formed by the talented Shekera siblings, Anna Shekera (piano and harp at 16), Artem Shekera (double bass at 18), and Maksym Shekera (drums, flute, and vocals at 14), they have already captivated large audiences, filling Kyiv’s largest music hall in June 2023.
Their performances breathe fresh life into modern jazz, melding reverence for jazz masters with innovation and a joyfully expressive stage presence. Founded in 2015, the band has garnered numerous international awards, including at Jazz Fontanas Panevėžys and Odesa Jazz Fest.
Just a day before the war, ShekBand completed their debut album, “The Inflatable Ram,” released globally in April 2022 and featured on RadioFrance’s “Open Jazz.” Continuously inspiring the youth towards jazz, they bring a unique blend of energy, talent, and originality.
